Book The Great Medicine Show

Book fire dancers, belly dancers and a live DJ show

The Great Medicine Show is an Austin performance company that has spent years building one thing: a night where the music, the fire and the dancers are a single show. Book a DJ set, add dancers and fire, or bring the whole ensemble.

A Great Medicine Show fire breather sends a column of flame into the night sky at an outdoor show

One crew, the whole show

Most events book a DJ from one company, fire dancers from another and a belly dancer from a third, then hope they meet before showtime. The Great Medicine Show arrives as one cast that already performs together. The DJ plays original music built for the moment the fire comes out. The dancers know the set. The room gets a show with a beginning, a peak and an ending, not three acts sharing a floor.

That is the difference people notice, and it is why we have been invited back to the same festivals year after year.

Three ways to book it

A DJ set. One performer, original bass and electronic music, 2 to 4 hours across the evening. Plugs into any club, festival or AV company sound system.

The show. The DJ set with dancers and roaming performers: belly dance, LED wings, hoops, costumed characters moving through the crowd. This is the version most corporate events and private parties choose.

The full spectacle. The whole ensemble, up to 12 performers, with fire. Fire breathing, fire fans, fire belly dance and fire aerial, timed as three 15 minute fire sets across the night, with sound bowls, storytelling and a closing bow. This is the production festivals put on a main stage.

What we bring

Each discipline has its own page with photos, how it works and the questions planners ask:

Where we have performed

Unison Festival in Colorado, PlayThink in Kentucky, High Vibe Fest in California, Quantum Awakening in New Jersey, a top billed New Year's Eve at Indra's Awarehouse in Austin, a headline night at Anarchapulco in Acapulco, and a sold out production of Music for the People in Belton, Texas with a cast of more than 14. The full show archive lists every one we have a flyer for.

The music is ours too. The Great Medicine Show has released more than 100 songs and reached 1.20 million Spotify streams in 2025.

How booking works

Send the date, the city, the kind of event and roughly how many guests. We reply with the version of the show that fits the room and a quote. Four weeks of notice is ideal. Any show with fire needs at least two, because in Austin the fire permit is filed 14 days ahead. We are based in Austin and travel for the right event; the quote is the creative fee and travel is billed at cost.

Questions planners ask

Where is The Great Medicine Show based?

Austin, Texas. We perform across Texas and travel for festivals, corporate events and private shows across the US, and have performed in Mexico and Canada.

How many performers can you bring?

Anywhere from one, a DJ set, to twelve for the full production with fire. Most events land in between: the DJ with two to six dancers and fire performers.

Can you perform indoors?

Yes. Indoors we swap live flame for LED poi, staffs and fans. The DJ, the dancers and the roaming performers stay the same.

Do you bring your own sound system?

No. We plug into the venue's or the AV company's sound system, which keeps load in simple and the cost down.

How far ahead should we book?

Four weeks is ideal. A show with fire needs at least two weeks, because the fire permit is filed 14 days ahead in Austin.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the cast, the length and whether there is fire. Tell us the date, the city and your budget and we will shape the show to it. Travel outside Austin is billed separately at cost.
