Book The Great Medicine Show
Belly dancers for events, solo or as a troupe
Veils, silk fan veils, sword balancing and fire belly dance, performed solo or as a troupe, to a live DJ set or with live percussion.

Belly dance, the Medicine Show way
Our belly dancers are part of a full production company, so they come with something most belly dance acts do not: a live DJ playing music made for them. The Great Medicine Show's own songs blend bass music with world instruments like oud, and voice, which gives belly dance a home on a modern dance floor. They also perform with live percussion when the room calls for it.
What the dancers bring
- Veil and silk fan veils: big, flowing color that fills a stage and photographs beautifully.
- Sword balancing: a blade balanced on the head and shoulders while the dancer moves, the classic showpiece of the form.
- Fire belly dance: belly dance with fire props, from our fire performers side of the company.
- Troupe choreography: two to six dancers moving as one, for a stage or the center of a ballroom.
- Roaming and crowd work: dancers moving through the guests, pulling people onto the floor.
Solo, troupe or full show
A single belly dancer can open a dinner, a gala or a wedding reception. A troupe can carry a stage. Paired with the DJ set and fire, the dancers become one part of the full Great Medicine Show, which is how we have performed at festivals like Unison, PlayThink and High Vibe Fest.
Events we dance for
Corporate galas and themed parties, weddings and receptions, festivals, retreats, restaurant and venue nights, and cultural celebrations. For conferences and hotel ballrooms see corporate entertainment, which covers indoor rules and timing.
How booking works
Tell us the date, the city, the room and how long you want dancers on the floor. A short feature of 10 to 20 minutes works for most dinners and receptions. Longer events usually mix sets with roaming time across the night. We are based in Austin and travel for the right event, with travel billed at cost.

Questions planners ask
Can I book one belly dancer, or do I need a troupe?
Either. A single dancer suits dinners, receptions and smaller rooms. A troupe suits stages, festivals and larger galas.
Do your belly dancers do sword?
Yes. Sword balancing is part of the repertoire, along with veil, silk fan veils and fire.
What music do the belly dancers perform to?
Usually a live DJ set from The Great Medicine Show, whose own songs blend bass music with oud, world instruments and voice. We also perform with live percussion.
Can belly dancers perform with fire indoors?
Live flame is usually outdoor only. Indoors the dancers perform with veils, swords and LED props instead.
Where are you based?
